The Mongolian Grasslands are huge areas with green grass and tremendous nature. Home to nomadic people, Gazelles, and even the Siberian Tiger.

We went to a traditional Mongolian village in the Grasslands. We were driving slowly and looking for where to go, when a guy on a motorbike approached us. Normally in a situation like this you don’t stop. The guy followed us and wanted to talk to us. I told my husband to stop and talk to the guy. He offered us to follow him to his village where we could have a horse ride. Of course my husband was not so comfortable with this, but I convinced him to follow the guy. He brought us to his family, where they offered horse riding and home-cooked lamb, which is the main dish in Mongolia. The people were very friendly. We ordered a leg of lamb and some side dishes with different kinds of cheese, Mongolian specialties. They offered us a private tent to be in. It was very cozy.

The amazing Mongolian Grasslands

To drink we were given a mixture of tea and milk. Mongolians traditionally use horse milk to drink and make cheeses and yogurt. It was very nice. Then they brought the leg of lamb. It was fantastic. It was so tender and so tasty. Unbelievable. The best lamb I ever had before was Icelandic lamb. But I must say, despite half of my family being Icelandic, the Mongolian lamb is even better. The best meat I ever tasted in my whole life. If you ever go to Inner Mongolia, don’t miss to taste the lamb meat!

After the delicious meal, we went horse riding. It was fun for everybody.
