South France is wonderful and has the best beaches. We decided to spend our vacation on the Mediterranian and the Atlantic coast line. On the huge Atlantic side there are very strong and big waves. Be careful not to swim in unguarded areas where there are no lifesavers. There are flags that indicate where it is safe to swim. At the beach there were no buildings around except a bar where you could have something to eat and drink.
We went to Bayonne and Biarritz near the border of Spain. Small narrow streets, romantic flair, nice French restaurants with delicious food. Try the seafood with white wine, delicious. Also not forget the red wine. It is the Bordeaux area.

Beautiful golden sand and big waves. I fell in love with this golden sand. Amazing!

At the Mediterranean side of France, the Ocean is much calmer with low waves. You will not resist to jump in and experience the warm and comfortable water. Here it is more family oriented and safer to swim. The beaches are big enough to accomodate everyone and the kids had lots of fun building sand castles and swimming in the ocean.
