Allgaeu is in South Germany at the root of the Alps. We stayed close to the city of Fuessen. Nearby is one of the most famous castles in Germany, the fairytale castle Neuschwanstein. It was the model for Disney’s fairytale castles.
In Allgaeu there are lot’s of opportunities to go hiking with panoramic views of the mountains. There are also easier hiking tours for children to enjoy. We went to the small lake Hopfensee where it is possible to swim.
In local restaurants we found a fabulous atmosphere. It was decorated in old wooden Bavarian style. We ate delicious Bavarian food and drank the best Bavarian beer.
The fairytale Castle Neuschwanstein
This beautiful mountain is the biggest mountain in Germany. It’s name is Zugspitze.
